Laura Crystina Alexander

Laura Crystina Alexander was born in Monterey, California, into a family of fashion industry entrepreneurs from Italy. This early exposure, as well as being surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of California’s central coast, have been pivotal in the inspiration of many facets of her work. Her extensive background as an interior designer along with her love of art, architecture and fashion have all served as essential factors in developing a keen eye for color and form.

Through Laura’s many trips to visit family in Italy, she acquired a seminal appreciation for the art and culture of that country. It was from this early introduction which she developed a deep love of art in all its expressions.

From a young age she excelled in various forms of artmaking, especially drawing and painting.  After graduating from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a degree in Italian (Language and Literature) and returning home to the Monterey Peninsula, she was introduced to the Italian master painter, Roberto Lupetti. While enrolled in an interior design program, she was selected as one of five students to be mentored by the late artist to hone her skills in realism.

She went on to establish a thriving interior design practice in California as well as obtaining her general contracting license, later relocating her design business to Florida in 2004. While in Florida, she explored jewelry design, created a women’s luxury jewelry line, and was selected as one of eight rising stars in the jewelry industry for the 2010 JCK Show in Las Vegas.

Returning home to Carmel, California in 2013, she again focused her attention on design and building. After a neck injury in 2017, she took up painting to utilize art’s meditative process to deal with pain management and depression resulting from the injury.

In 2020, Laura’s life pivoted due to the global pandemic, and while in lockdown, she evaluated her life and priorities. It was during this time she made a career decision to become a trauma-informed coach and visual artist. She obtained a credential in Transformational Life Coaching through Sofia University while also creating a substantial body of artwork. With her coaching credential completed, she extensively researched the psychological benefits of art making and obtained her credential as a Neurographica® Specialist. She then created a transformational program called the Brave Art Journey, a creative process for healing and personal growth at the heart and soul level.

Influenced by positivity, healing, and spirituality, Laura’s art incorporates prose as well universal symbols of connectedness to express the message of love.
